Safety Tips From a Trusted Tire Shop When Changing Tires

Changing Your Tires Safely

A flat tire is a total inconvenience. Having to change tires is much more, but changing tires is manageable only if you have the correct tools and know-how. Fixing or changing a flat tire is something every driver should know. If you want someone to change your tires go to a tire shop or just pull over somewhere safe and out of the way if you want to change your own tires, if you want to, follow these simple steps:

Loosen Tire Lugs

So before doing anything, make sure you’re in a safe, out-of-the-way place and your car is in “park”. But if you own a manual, put it in gear. And just in case the car moves, block the other tires with a rock or something like it. Start first by loosening the tire lugs, use a tire iron. Just loosen though, don’t remove them just yet. So loosen the lugs by turning the tire iron counter-clockwise. You’ll need to use a jack to remove the lugs successfully after which, you can remove the tire.

Mount the New Tire

Before you mount the new tire, make sure to clean the hub so the tire can set correctly. Once that’s done: hold the spare tire up, make sure the holes are in line with the wheels studs then just push it onto the studs and screw on the lugs with your hands. You can tighten them as much as you are able with a tire iron. Once everything is done, just lower the car after a final tightening. It’s also a basic practice to tighten the lugs as much as you can. Then you’re done!
